Tesla (Tesla Motors, Inc.) is an American company that designs, manufactures, and sells electric cars and electric vehicle powertrain components, but it is continuing to move forward in many other industries. Yesterday, for example, Tesla announced a groundbreaking new technology to store energy for houses, offices, and commercial spaces called the “Powerwall”.
The proper and efficient storage of electricity has always been an issue when it comes to harvesting power from renewable sources of energy, such as solar energy. You need a lot of space to install an array of bulky batteries, which eats up a lot of your floor space. Also, these batteries have to be changed every 5-6 years so that their capacity to store electricity is maintained. Tesla’s Powerwall tackles both of these challenges in a truly beautiful way. As you can see in the image above, a Powerwall battery can easily be stuck on a wall, so they don’t occupy any floor space. Also, once bought, a Powerwall battery provides reliable service for 20 years!
Powerwalls will be available in two types: 10 kWh weekly cycle and 7 kWh daily cycle models. Both of these versions are guaranteed for ten years and have enough capacity to power most homes during peak evening hours. The biggest positives that we see include the following:
1) Saves an incredible amount of space
2) Extremely long life
3) Stores tons of energy
